The CCPP Group Lions Karoo to Coast Mountain Bike Challenge 2020 planning continues in preparation for race date 20 September 2020.

Thank you to our valued cyclists for your ongoing support of this event over the past 22 years. We appreciate you and all you do for charity in the Southern Cape.

The CCPP Group Lions Karoo to Coast has requested input from sponsors and stakeholders over the past few days and discussions have been held with the Lions of Knysna and Uniondale, who own this event. This has been done in light of the outbreak of the Corona Virus, also known as COVID-19 and the subsequent current postponement or cancellation of sporting events and mass gatherings in South African and around the world.

Taking into consideration that the event will only take place in six months from now – we will continue to go ahead with the planning as per previous years. Under the ongoing guidance of the national government on the virus, as well as local and provincial government the event owners and partners will make a final review of the situation by the latest on the 15th July 2020 and advise all riders and stakeholders on the way forward, depending on the status of the virus in the country at the time.

Should the event be cancelled, the Uniondale and Knysna Lions will honour the riders who have entered by refunding riders (minus admin costs) or alternatively – the riders can choose to transfer their entry to the 2021 version of the event that will be held in September next year.

In the mean time the team encourages riders to stay fit and to be intelligent with regards to health choices for themselves and others. We also encourage riders to support the event and to continue to enter for the 2020 version when they are happy to do so. The event already has over 1000 riders entered. The Lions Karoo to Coast has a huge socio economic impact on the region and all proceeds go to charity. Entries are open at

We will make announcements and issue updates on an ongoing basis. Please see social media for news.
