The Lions Karoo to Coast is a 100km offroad race from UNIONDALE to KNYSNA via the Prince Alfred's Pass and is not for the faint-hearted.

CUT OFF

The cut off is at the Kom se Pad / Knysna turn off at 14:30 and the Knysna High School at 16:30. There will be seven start groups with approximately five minute intervals in between each group.

Seeding will be done in the first ten days of September 2025 and riders will be sent their race numbers via email by 15 September. Seeding will be done by Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, based on past results.

LATE ENTRIES

Entries close on 25 August 2025. There will BE NO LATE entries whatsoever once all entries have closed. The Lions Karoo to Coast is limited to 4500 entries.

Substitutions

Substitutions will open for a 10 day window period as soon as the 2025 Karoo to Coast sells out or by the latest - (Date to be confirmed).
Substitution

WATERPOINTS

There are nine points (including the finish point) on the 100km route. There will be food at the points from the Buffelsnek water point - which is approximately half way through the event. Please note that it is not guaranteed that all riders will receive food at points as it depends on the consumption by riders passing before them. There will be sufficient water and Powerade at all points for the 4500 riders. It is highly recommended that you also carry your own preferred snacks and liquids on your person on the day.

WHAT TO CARRY

Riders are encouraged to take sufficient energy bars/food for your estimated time in the saddle. Please carry at least two full water bottles with your drink of choice and preferably a full “Camelbak” if you have one. Riders should be able to fix a puncture and may want to carry their cellphones. If you are allergic to any medication etc – please indicate this on your person when riding. There will be 8 waterpoints on the route.
