Can I enter with my Gravel Bike?
Gravel bikes are welcome, in fact – K2C is the ideal race for Gravel Bikers!
In 2024 we introduced separate generous prize money and prodium places for Gravel Bikes!
What is the minimum age?
Riders need to be 19 years old by the end of December 2025.
Who can enter?
Anybody who is over the minimum age of the event category, can ride a bicycle and is moderately fit can participate. If you are unsure of your fitness levels or medical status, please visit your doctor first.
What are the entry fees?
R800 including dinner at registration in Uniondale on Friday, 19 or Saturday 20 September. All proceeds go to the Lions of Knysna and Uniondale.
Do I need a license to participate?
The event is sanctioned by CSA. All riders will need to purchase a license or possess a CSA Day or Annual license in order to participate in the event.
Can I ride with somebody else's race number?
No. Any participant found to be riding with somebody else’s race number may face disqualification and/or a 1-year ban. The reason for the strict enforcement of the rules is because your personal and medical details are linked to your race number in case of an emergency.
What do I wear?
Helmets: Helmets are compulsory. We recommend polystyrene helmets complying with ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards. Clothing: Cycling shoes, shorts and jerseys are also recommended for your safety and convenience but you can wear what you like.
How can I confirm the status of my entry?
If you entered online, you can check your details on the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust website. Alternatively, you can contact the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust offices on 087 820 7223 or info@entries.co.za.
How is my seeding calculated and who is seeded?
Each rider is seeded accordingly based on their individual seeding index from events done on their Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust profile and the best results index (lowest index) will be taken into account. This will apply to the substitute entrants as well.
When will I be assigned my race number and be notified of my seeding/start time?
Your race number and seeding will be sent to by the 15th September 2025. This will be sent to you by email or/and text message by the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust who are hired to manage this aspect of registration.
What are the start times?
Where do I collect my race number?
Registration will take place at the Uniondale Showground on Friday, 19 and Saturday 20 September 2025 from 13:00 to 20:00 and for the convenience of riders not staying in the area overnight there will be another late registration on the morning of Sunday 21 September. This late registration will start at 06:00 and will close at 07:30 on Sunday morning.
How do I collect my race number if I do not receive my confirmation email or sms?

How will I be timed?
The Lions Karoo 2 Coast Mountain Bike Challenge 2025 will be timed by FinishTime Event Management using the existing MTB Boards (old Racetec MTB Boards or new FinishTime MTB boards) held by athletes. Please note that the timing Chip is embedded in your MTB Board that you will receive in your Race Pack at registration, OR if you already own a Permanent MTB Board, you need to remember to bring your MTB board to the event. If for some reason you have lost or forgot your MTB board, you can purchase a replacement board at the cost of R140.00 at registration the day before the event, or on the morning of the race.
You will receive a Lions Karoo 2 Coast event sticker in your race pack. You will need to apply the sticker across the top of the MTB Board over the RaceTec Logo. You will also receive a Seeding sticker that will match the start group you have been seeded in. The seeding sticker needs to be applied in the bottom right corner in the provided square area that says “Seeding”. Please note that you will not be able to start the event without your MTB Board.
If I am in an accident and have to go to hospital in an ambulance, what happens to my bicycle?
The medic that attends to you will radio the Operations Centre who will send a marshal to collect your bicycle. Should there be room in the ambulance, then your bicycle will be dropped off at the nearest refreshment station. In either of these instances, your bicycle will be put on to the sweep vehicle which travels along behind the last of the cyclists. Your bicycle will then be taken to the finish and given to the Venue Operating Centre. You can collect your bicycle from the Venue Operating Centre.
What if I decide during the tour that I cannot continue?
There is a sweep vehicle that follows the route. Move off the course and wait for the sweep vehicle or you can stop at any of the official water points.
What are the cut off times?
The cut off remains at the Kom se Pad / Knysna turn off at 14:30 and the Knysna High School at 16:30. There will be seven start groups with approximately five minute intervals in between each group – the first group leaves at 07:30.
What happens to me if I am in an accident?
If you are in an accident on the route, you will be seen to by our medical team. If you are able to, you can continue to the finish line or you can wait to be collected by a sweep vehicle. If you are more seriously injured you will be transported to the nearest hospital and your details will be logged with the organisers. It is therefore very important to ensure that your medical and emergency contact details are correctly updated and that you ride with your own race number.

How do I get my tog bag from Uniondale back to Knysna?
The Lions Clubs of Knysna and Uniondale provide a FREE tog bag service to riders. Vehicles will collect bags from 06:00 until 07:15 directly in front of the registration hall on Sunday, 21 September 2025. Riders will receive a ticket and can collect their bag at the finish in Knysna after the event.
Is there a secure bike park in Uniondale?
Yes – there will be a secure bike park available from Friday, 19- Sunday, 21 September. The cost of bike storage per night is R30 per bicycle.
Is there a massage service in Uniondale?
Yes – Karoo to Coast Special, leg massage 30 Minute @ R180.00. Back, neck, shoulders & legs for 1 hour @ R300.00. Contact Royal Beaut Salon 28 Voortrekker Street, Dandelion on 072 834 439 (cash only). No walk-ins.
Is there a massage service at the Finish Venue?

Can I drive over the pass before the race?
The route closes at 06:30AM – we encourage all vehicles to rather use the route via George.
When & where will dinner be served?
Dinner for riders will be served in the dining hall at registration from 17h30-20h30 on Friday, 19 and Saturday, 20 September 2025.
Please note that this meal will only be served to riders. Friends and family can buy food from the food hall.
Where are the Waterpoints & what will be available from these points?
There are nine points (including the finish point) on the 100km route. There will be food at the points from the Buffelsnek water point – which is approximately half way through the event. Please note that it is not guaranteed that all riders will receive food at points as it depends on the consumption by riders passing before them. There will be sufficient water and Coca-Cola at all points for the 4500 riders. It is highly recommended that you also carry your own preferred snacks and liquids on your person on the day.
Where can I collect my pre-ordered merchandise?
Merchandise orders will be available for collection at registrations.
Please read the sizing chart before ordering, as we will not be able to accommodate the swooping of sizes.
If you are unable to collect, please arrange with friends or family to collect on your behalf.
